What I've Been Enjoying/Loving Lately

The List

Pushing Daisies

I've liked/loved a lot of television shows in my lifetime. I can admit to being a TV junkie at times, & with that said...Pushing Daisies is LOVE! I love it & I'm devastated that it's no longer on the air. One of the best shows EVER!

Community

This show makes me laugh so damn hard. & I love the cast so much. I'm so glad that I finally gave up watching The Vampire Diaries in order to watch Community in its 8:00 PM time slot.

Nirvana

For the past 6 months, Nirvana has been on HEAVY rotation in our household. We've been reading Nirvana books, watching Nirvana documentaries/concerts, listening to Nirvana albums, quoting Nirvana lyrics, talking about the first time we heard Nirvana, etc. It's Nirvana mania! & I guess the world in somewhat in a Nirvana frenzy, too. Nirvana's Live At Reading CD/DVD & Bleach's 20th anniversary have recently come out.

Lee Pace

Break me off a piece of that! The eyebrows! The eyebrows! Swoon!

Tumblr

I'm pretty obsessed with Tumblr. If you're interested, check out my Tumblr here. & if you have a Tumblr, let's be friends!

That's all for now.
What are you currently enjoying/loving?

Get Off The Internet, Or Something

I AM NOT DEAD.

I've just haven't been on the internet as much.

I probably go on about once a week. One time, I went almost three weeks without logging on. This makes me kind of chuckle seeing as at one time, I couldn't get off the damn computer for HOURS. Now, I hardly update my blog, Twitter, Facebook, or Flickr. I do update my Tumblr from time to time. I find updating it low key. I like Tumblr more than I thought I would. It's my visual scrapbook.

The one draw back about not going on the internet is losing touch with friends. Some of my friends aren't really into phone calls, or texts. Some rely on the internet to communicate, & some rely on snail mail. I thankfully have been writing up a storm. Trying to get some letters sent out. I'm sick on relying on the internet to stay in touch. I have a stack of letter here ready to be sent. I know I procrastinate sending things out, but if I don't do it at my pace, well, it'll never get done.

The internet once held so much joy for me, but now it just makes me lonely. I've come to realize that just because I'm not online everyday, the world doesn't stop for me. People keep on posting & blogging. I guess I have this thing about invisibility. But than again, don't we all? I just want to be seen. So, I'm going to make myself more visible.

This starts now.

All Tomorrow's Parties NY 2009/ATP NY 09: Day Two

ATP NY 2009: Photos Update!

I decided to do this post a bit differently than Day 1's.

Instead of all this text-y text about blah blah blah, I'm going to just post photos of Day 2 & write some captions. It's easier & quite frankly, I'm lazy. That & I seem to have forgotten so many details already. Old age I tell ya!

Here we go!

Photos from Day 2 Of ATP NY 2009 w/CAPTIONS:

ATP NY 2009: Day 2 Oufit
Day 2 outfit. I took this in the mirror inside the bathroom at the motel. I bought that shirt at Walmart early Saturday morning. Those snazzy boots are from Target.

I was super stoked about this & decided to attend the Jon Spencer interview.

I'm pretty sure we saw bands earlier, but I only started taking photos while seeing Shellac. The rest of the pictures came out bunktified.

Shellac. Totally good & fun, but I left their set early to catch Boss Hog at Stage 2.

Quite a few photos of Boss Hog coming your way.

We waited QUITE a while for Boss Hog to set up (BTW, they are perfectionists when it comes to setting up their gear), but when all was said & done...they ruled so hard. I was totally excited to see a band that I've liked for so long. The night was turning out really great.

After Boss Hog we had to motor to Stage 1 for Animal Collective's set. I was SUPER stoked about seeing them, but to be honest I was tired as hell. I was just drained for all the walking around. I didn't even get to see many bands, but I was having fun.

Animal Collective time!

All Tomorrow's Parties NY 2009
Animal Collective were great. I was super happy seeing them. It felt like a rave (which I have never been to), & everyone was dancing & getting into it. I wasn't dancing as much as I wanted to, but I was getting down. Everyone was pumped when they started playing My Girls. I was pumped, too! It's an awesome song!

I took a little video during My Girls. It's pretty crappy, but you get the point.

We left during Animal Collective's last song. We wanted to get back to Hotel home, & get comfy under the blankets. The day was cold & rainy. I just wanted to be off of my feet.

Fun Stuff That Happened On Day 1 & 2 That I Failed To Mention:

-Running into Jim Jarmusch 7 million times, seeing Bob Mould walking around, watching Ian Svenonious & Steve Albini hug hello, & meeting Amber Tamblyn for all of 1 minute.
-Seeing people & their fashion choices. LEGGINGS AS PANTS = DO NOT WANT!
-Watching Wayne Coyne ride around in a golf cart.
-Pizza for dinner.
-Having a few conversations with festival peeps.

& that is Day 2!

All photos were taken by me. Please do not re-post these photos anywhere without my permission. They are crappy photos, but they are MINE.

Stay tuned for Day 3.

Thanks for reading/looking/commenting.

All Tomorrow's Parties NY 2009/ATP NY 09: Day One

ATP NY 2009: Photos Update!

Our day started off very gloomy & rainy, but that wasn't going ruin the good mood we were in. We (my boyfriend & I) were super jazzed to be heading back to Monticello, NY to attend All Tomorrow's Parties NY 2009 (ATP NY 09) which is held at Kutsher's Country Club up in the Catskills.

On the ride to Monticello, NY (the driving time is about 2 1/2 hours from our town in CT) we listened to the following bands:

-The Lonely Island
-Pixies
-The Strokes
-& whatever rock station we found on NY radio.

We made a few stops along the way, too:

-A liquor store for beer.
-Pizza Hut for some pepperoni pizza.
-A Salvation Army to see if we could find Polaroid cameras, or typewriters. No luck.

We arrived at the Super 8 (our home for next 3 days) in time for check in. Check in went smoothly, we got a room (right next door to the laundry room...ugh!), turned on the television, unpacked, watched the later half of Baby Mama on HBO, gathered up our stuff to head up to Kutsher's, packed the car & were on our way to Kutsher's/ATP NY 09!

Unfortunately, ATP never sent us our tickets via mail, so we had to bring in paper work & ID's to get into the event. We braced ourselves for it all being a nightmare, but it ran pretty smoothly. The line was short, we had the right papers, & we got our wristbands in less than 15 minutes. Awesome! & the wristband's were so super cute, & made out of cloth this time. Last year they were plastic. ATP NY 09 got fancy on us!

Here's a picture of the wristband for ATP NY 2009:

All Tomorrow's Parties NY 2009.

After check in & all of that, I began freaking out. I was so excited to be back at Kutsher's for ATP NY. We went last year & had so much fun. Although this year seemed a bit different. The place looked a bit cleaner. I really wish they would replace the toilets at Kutsher's. They suck so hard. Ha, actually, the don't suck hard enough. The pressure is bad, & some of them hardly flush properly. But hey, real toilets as opposed to Port-O-Potty's is A+ in my book.

Now the rest of the night is going to be in list form, because, well, I can't write every single thing that happened. That would take forever, & be too long.

Day One:

-Watched a bit of The Feelies set. They were pretty good.
-Walked around a lot.
-Went to the car to relax & have some drinks. I drank Gatorade, Mark drank beer.
-Talked to my mom for 45 minutes on my cell while in the car.
-Watched Suicide & feel uncomfortable. My ears were assaulted, & I felt my brain was being scrambled.
-While watching Suicide at Stage 1, Mark spots Nick Cave in the crowd (Nick was there performing with The Dirty Three, but we missed their set. So, we didn't know he was at ATP NY!) & we start to FREAK OUT! My heart goes...thump thump thump.
-Chase Nick Cave while he leaves Stage & feel crazy in doing so.
-WE MEET NICK CAVE! I get to take a photo with him & I'm like...OMG!
-Hang around some more. Check out the food court.
-Head to Stage 2 to watch David Cross' curated comedy stage.
-Watched The Fuggedabuddies (mildy funny), Derrik Brown & Navy gracy (amazing), Eugene Mirman (hilarious, & David Cross (funny, but very drunk)perform.
-MEET DAVID CROSS!
-Head to Stage 1 to see The Jesus Lizard. They rock it!
-Leave Kutsher's for the night & head to the 24 hr. Walmart.
-Buy some clothes & magazines.
-Go to Hotel Home (the Super), eat left over pizza, watch some TV, surf the web, & go to sleep.

Photos from Day 1 Of ATP NY 2009:

All Tomorrow's Parties NY 2009
ATP NY 2009 featured over 15 films presented by Criterion. These were some of the films played on the first day. I didn't get a chance to see ANY of the films during my 3 day weekend, & that pissed me off.

Kings Of Leon @ Mohegan Sun Arena/Casino in Uncasville, CT

On 9/9/09 I had the pleasure of seeing one of my favorite bands in the entire world, Kings Of Leon.

Here are some photos that my boyfriend & I took at the show. Mine are really blurry & crappy. Mark's are way better. I'm jealous that he took better shots. Ha ha!

There are more photos here in a set on my Flickr.

I'd post a review, but I'm way too lazy for that. Let's just say the show was fun, not so fun at times, & emotional.
